Data Center World Speaking Tips

1. Dress attire is business casual.

2. Educational sessions are one hour long. Please allow enough time to present then at least 10 minutes for Q and A with the attendees.

3. Please make your reservations before September 10, 2010. Contact the Mirage Hotel and Convention Center at 800-499-6311 and provide the AFCOM block discount code which has been sent to you. If you need this code, please email confserv@afcom.com.

4. Please remember, room reservations are available on a first-come, space-available basis. Space permitting, this block will be available until September 10, 2010. Data Center World conference room blocks consistently sell out. Register for the conference and make your hotel reservations early to ensure you get a room. AFCOM is not responsible for matching rates or finding additional rooms once this block is sold out.

5. When putting together your PowerPoint presentations, light or no background versions of the PowerPoint are preferred.

6. Use only black or dark text.

7. Use large text wherever possible.

8. Only use graphics that are clear and legible.

9. Do not use graphics that cover text.

10. E-mail the PowerPoint presentation(s) to: confserv@afcom.com.

11. “Zip” all electronic files.

12. Company name/logo can only appear on the first slide and last slide.

13. No other handout materials can be distributed to your session attendees without prior AFCOM review and approval.

14. Test the legibility of your slide by printing them 6-up to a page.

15. Make sure to bring your laptop onsite to use for your presentation (never leave this unattended in a room).

16. Always bring a back-up version of your PowerPoint presentation onsite with you just in case.

17. It is important to you to block your calendar now for the conference dates. You may be asked to speak more than once, between Monday October 4 and Wednesday October 6.

18. It is also important for you to understand that this speaking opportunity is a time commitment that you have agreed to. It is strongly recommended to educate a peer or co-worker on your session as a back-up if an unforeseen problem challenges your scheduled time to speak. Cancellations are a great disappointment to our attendees as well as to AFCOM, so it is essential to have a back-up plan. Please understand that if a cancellation occurs without a back up speaker to present, you will lose the opportunity to present at future Data Center World conferences.
