Data Center World Keynote Session: (Re)Empowering IT
Greg Papadopoulos, Ph.D., Chief Technology Officer and
Executive Vice President of Research and Development,
Sun Microsystems, Inc.
Tuesday, March 10
7:45-9:00am
The ever-changing landscape of the IT infrastructure has left data center managers
with a myriad of hardware and software architectures. Trying to standardize
all of this has frequently put IT at odds with individual business departments and
their unique environments. But today, it doesn’t have to be that way.
New and easily implementable technologies allow IT to “own” and manage this
complicated data center infrastructure while providing end users the opportunity
to develop and even operate in separate environments.
Virtualization, cloud computing, open source software and other new or nontraditional
IT technologies now have a place in the data center. Learn how to
implement them safely, securely and easily – and most importantly, with little or no
disruption to your existing operation and infrastructure.
Bringing these latest technologies into your data center will allow end users and
developers to get what they need, when they need it, and at the same time (re)
empower IT with ownership of the data center infrastructure.
